The AMAZONE UX 5201 SmartSprayer is a trailed field sprayer that offers a new crop protection system by integrating Bosch camera technology and xarvio™ crop management expertise. Thresholds are field specific, which can result in up to 70% reduction in herbicide use. The system uses camera technology that scans the field day and night, and it uses sensor technology to detect weeds and crops at operating speeds of up to 12 km/h. The xarvio™ software decides the application from the detected weed population. The two-tank system enables simultaneous, full-surface application of soil herbicides, insecticides or fungicides. The spray boom offers practical integration of camera and light modules that enable spot spraying.

The system is only a prototype so far, but will be available on the market in the next few years.

Precise weed control thanks to camera technology and software

The SmartSprayer combines three important capabilities for the targeted application of crop protection products: Scan, Decide and Apply. Bosch has developed camera technology and image processing that scans the entire field day and night, regardless of environmental influences, thanks to integrated light modules. The sensor technology detects crops and weeds at speeds of up to 12 km/h. The xarvio™ software makes a decision in real time based on the weed population detected. The xarvio™ agronomic decision-making engine takes into account factors such as crop, application timing, and customer- and field-specific strategies in weed control. Significant savings can be achieved with SpotFan nozzles at 25 cm intervals and pulse width frequency modulation (PWFM) valves.

Efficient and environmentally friendly spot spraying system

The SmartSprayer UX 5201 is a spot spraying system that can be used in both pre-emergence and post-emergence to achieve greater savings. The two-tank system in combination with the FT-P 1502 front tank also allows the farmer to avoid overruns and thus save costs. A second spray line allows simultaneous, full-surface application of soil herbicides, insecticides or fungicides. In addition to the improved economy and multifunctionality of the system, the focus is on the benefits for the environment.

Effective weed control with xarvio™ Agronomic Decision-Making Engine from BASF Digital Farming

The xarvio™ agronomic decision-making engine from BASF Digital Farming recommends field-specific herbicide mixtures based on good integrated pest management practices. Parameters such as crop, weed spectrum and weather conditions are taken into account and automatically evaluated. The herbicide is applied only where weeds affect the quality of weed management. Higher herbicide savings can be achieved through this method. In addition, xarvio™ crop management recommendations to optimize the use of the system.

High-precision weed control with image recognition system from Bosch

Thanks to the Bosch image recognition system, weeds are detected at a very early stage of growth. This allows the herbicide to be applied to the target area with high precision and efficiency. The special LED light technology supports detection even in difficult lighting conditions and enables applications even at night. Compared to satellites and drones, the integrated SmartSprayer solution has another advantage: plants can be detected in the millimeter range, making real-time application possible.
